London – Food & Drink

The food and drink scene in London has been home to creative and exciting dining experiences for well over a hundred years. From smaller plates in the Camden Markets to finer dining with a view in Park Lane, this city has an abundance of delicious restaurants to visit if you know where to look. Here are some of my favourite places for you to try out on your next visit to London.

Food – A variety of flavours!

Camden Market:
There are so many food stalls to choose from when visiting the Camden Markets, your biggest struggle will be narrowing down what you want to order! One of London’s most popular tourist destinations, you’ll be stopping a lot to sample what all the shops and stalls have on offer. Mac Factory serves up hearty portions of mac and cheese with some intriguing toppings. Be sure to check out their Super Mario mac and cheese that’s loaded with mushrooms, garlic and white truffle oil for under £8.

Rudy's Dirty Vegan

You won’t be stuck for vegan options when visiting either. Ruby’s Dirty Vegan Diner serves up classic American diner dishes with a vegan twist. From their Dirty Burger to their ‘Mac’n’Cheez’, this diner will leave you dreaming about their food long after you’ve visited. Be sure to check out their sugary sweet vegan shakes too if you have room!

Smoking Goat:
Smoking Goat is a quirky little restaurant based in London’s SoHo. Inspired by the street vendors of Bangkok, it serves up an enticing variety of meat and seafood dishes with Thai-inspired favours, from smaller dishes of chilli fish sauce wings to courgette khua kling. If you fancy something a little more substantial, the smoked lamb ribs, whole grilled plaice and northern Thai lamb larb are not to be missed!

Galvin at Windows:
If you’re looking to infuse your visit to London with something very fancy, why not try the award-winning Galvin at Windows. This decadent restaurant is located on the 28th floor of Park Lane’s Hilton Hotel with stunning views of the city below. The menus are seasonally inspired and include dishes of pan-roasted Cornish hake, duck breast and indulgent chocolate tarts for dessert. You can book a reservation for their set menu and it won’t break the bank with three courses coming in at just under £40.

Dishoom:
Dishoom serves up Indian cuisine in its five locations dotted around London. Beloved of locals and visitors alike, this restaurant boasts a menu that’s packed with flavourful dishes. Their House Black Daal is a Dishoom signature dish on their menu and is cooked for over 24 hours before serving. Dishoom starts serving at 12pm so pop in for a quick lunch or make a booking for a more relaxing evening meal and be sure to try their samosas too!

A Wong:
A Wong serves traditional Chinese cuisine in London’s Victoria region. Serving lunch between 12-2.30pm and dinner from 5.30-10pm, you should definitely have it on your list. Their smaller plates boast a variety of dim sum dishes from Shanghai, steamed dumplings and their laughing buddha buns. Their larger plates consist of sweet and sour corn-fed chicken, dry-fried French beans with minced pork and shrimp and many others. Check out this restaurant if you’re in the market for an authentic Chinese dining experience.

Burlock:
London is jam-packed with exciting bars and drinking spots. Burlock rum room in London’s Marylebone certainly lives up to the city’s quirky expectations. The bar offers 200 different types of rum from all around the globe in a 1920’s Cuba-inspired setting. This bar is a short walk away from Bond Street Station so be sure to check it out before you leave the city.

NightJar:
NightJar possesses an old-school feel in London’s urban Shoreditch area. Their cocktail menu focuses on making forgotten cocktails exciting again. They offer a menu ranging from pre-prohibition cocktails to their signature list of drinks. Try the Assassin’s Tea cocktail while enjoying the variety of live music on offer every night of the week.
